Class One Puppy Socialization: New Puppy Socials
CLASSES are ON GOING
Please see services below for equipment needed.
Ages
12 -18 weeks. (Older if small breed excepted) This class is a MUST go to class for all new puppies and their
owners. We will learn proper
socialization, name recognition, sit, down, come and off.
Topics of discussion will include potty training, puppy manners,
crate training, grooming and leash training, spaying and neutering issues
and more. (This course is an original creation by Ohkom Farms. Copy of any
materials is prohibited.) (No discounts) NOTE:
This class is followed by a Puppy
Activity and Puppy Plus and
both classes are recommended for completion of puppy socialization
Class Two Puppy Activity
Another original class from Ohkom Farms. This activity
class has proven extremely successful in the testing stages of your
puppy’s development. We
combine this class with Obedience skills that have been started in the
Socials class along with introduction to Agility equipment, motivational
games and positive and fun interaction with you and your puppy. A class for
the whole family to participate in. Five months to Twelve months.
New 2009 AKC STAR PUPPY TEST
This test is offered for any puppy that passes their 6 week puppy socials or
puppy activity class. Tests will be offered through out the year to accommodate
puppy's up to one year of age. See AKC, web site, Star Puppy Test for more
information on line. Brochures and explanation of test will be given
during the class.
Class Three Puppy Plus
For puppies 6 months up to one year. For puppies who
have passed their Puppy Socialization and Puppy Activity, or have been
moved into this class. Continuation
of socialization, heeling on lead, recalls with distractions, sit and down
stays and more. Positive reinforcement for basics and helping you thru those tough "doggie
teens". Most puppies will test you at this age and stage of
learning. If you have started with our Class One you will have the tools to
deal with these behaviors and this class will expand those tools and help
you stay focused on the task. If you are new to the program several
private lessons to catch you up will be necessary. New students over 6 months that have not been
in our Puppy Socialization Class are required to come in for an Evaluation
before being scheduled into a class.

Obedience Classes Obedience is recommended for dogs of all
ages. Better to start at a young age but older dogs have excelled and
enjoy having the special attention. We learn basics, from sit,
down, come to train your companion to be well mannered to competition
levels. Many of our students have AKC obedience titles. If you are a New
Student with your dog being over six month old you will need to
be evaluated before coming into a class. Evaluations are necessary for the
trainer to assess you and your dog to determine which class is best for you.
It may be necessary to attend a few privates to catch up on the skills you
and your dog may have missed by not attending our Puppy Programs.
Obedience Classes Range from Beginner Pet Companion to
Competitive earning titles at AKC Trials. Have student titles up to
CDX levels.
Our Program offers Rally obedience and have titled students thru Rally
Excellent Levels.
AKC Canine Good Citizens Program and Therapy Dog.
Instructors Choice
A Class for the dog who wants to do everything, this
class is allotted for Instructor to choose the activity (obedience, rally,
open obedience, agility) for the class. This is a pre-advanced to advanced
level class. Students will be asked to help with equipment set up and tear
down.
Rally Obedience This class will combine your basic obedience skills with handling
technique's. Communicational skills with various obedience
exercises. This class will gear you towards competing , not required,
should you choose to test your skills under a judge. Fun and challenging.
Intermediate Obedience
Time to ask more from your companion.
We will work on precision of skills already learned. Sit stays, one
minute down stays three minutes. Lead up to working some skills off lead.
Positive interaction, motivational games between handler and dog are
learned. This class may be repeated. This class is not offered every
session.
Summer Discount Passes
Worried to sign up for a whole session and you'll have to miss for
vacations, family events, unexpected company. limited funds? No worry. Ohkom
Farms understands and wants to make it easy for those that want to keep
training and those that may want to come and socialize with your friends.
This will meet all your needs. You must be a graduate of a basic plus class
. See Intermediate Obedience for description of how class will run.
The classes will run thru the summer so you have choices of when you want to
come. A registration is required absolutely for this Summer Pass deal. Hope

AGILITY
CLASSES For the active dog and owner team. A great activity to burn
off that excess energy and build a wonderful loving bond between you and
your dog. You will be advised on what class to take according to what
classes are available . We train for fun up to competitive levels. It is not
necessary to compete to join our classes. Our students
have earned titles up to MACH 2 (Master Agility Champion) and have proudly had a Team
member invited to the AKC Invitational 2006,2007. Congratulations to Sally Murray and

Beginner One: Once you have mastered the
Puppy Activity Class and decide
you would like to progress you will enter into the next procession learning.
Ground work and positive reinforcement is emphasized. We will introduce
the weave poles and start to sequence equipment. Eight weeks for 45 minute
sessions.

Beginner Two: This is a crucial stage and will test your knowledge
of Agility. You will be tested on basic handling ability , learn discriminations
with sequencing. All classes are designed for success. Completion of
knowledge for all equipment. We will work at your
dogs level.
Handling Skills: Most students remain at this level for two sessions,
depending on the skills achieved by owner and dog. Complete novice courses
are worked on for this session. You will master handling skills and
prepare for competition. Focus work on how to work with your dog as
a team.
Advanced: At this level you will be challenged to compete and test
your skills. Competition is not necessary to participate in this class.
Complete novice courses are worked on for this session.
Pre-Team Students
who have taken an interest in Competing at Novice Level.
TEAM: Students who are competing are eligible to enter this
class. Course strategies and individual exercises are main concentration.

Conformation Classes
From beginner to advanced. Conformation for the show ring to compete
in your standard breed. Learn the in's and out's of the show world and how
to compete against the pro's.
Conformation Handling Privates are recommended for new dogs and
students. I will work with you on breed specifics and prepare you for
joining our classes.

Certificates are awarded to Graduates of:
Puppy Socials. All six classes must be completed. Make up’s are
accepted.
Puppy Plus. Seven of the eight classes must be
completed. Sit and down stays
for 30 seconds. Recalls off
leash. Must be manageable on leash heeling.
Basic Privates. For dogs over six months that have not
had any training are required to start in private sessions.
A private evaluation to determine handler and dog knowledge level is
required. Specific
criteria will be covered in order to move into a class and completed to earn
the certificate.
Intermediate. (Judges Worksheet) Specific criteria will be handed out in
the beginning of the class.
Attendance. Completing all classes but not graduating
to next level.
Beginner One Agility.
Learn the basic concept of agility and dog must be able to master the
basic pieces of equipment.

What
to Bring to Class
All Classes are taught with Positive Reinforcement Methods. You are required
to bring your own treats. SOFT treats are preferred. Cheerio's only in the
Puppy Socials Class until further instructed on what to bring.
Reminders of what you will need in this class.
Buckle Collars only. Choke collars are not permitted in the puppy
class. A leather leash is preferred and are sold at the
Training
Center
. You may use a light nylon one to start. I will help you with your
equipment. A treat bag, fanny
pack, for your treats. All members of the family that are participating must
wear one. Cheerios only for Puppy Socialization( Higher classes see recipe
below or any soft treats of your choice) for Lesson One and Two.
I will provide meat treats during those times if is necessary. Use
only cheerios at home as well. Lesson three you may add some meat treats to
your cheerios. A simple recipe is to
take a hot dog, (beef or chicken), cut in half long ways, then long ways again
so you have four strips. Cut
those strips in to cubes. Lay
flat on a paper towel and microwave for one minute.
Mix the cheerios and the hot dog in a baggie so the cheerios will
absorb the juice. This will help make a smelling tempting treat as we
Most of all dress comfortably, tennis shoes are preferred.
. All Vaccinations must be
updated and Stool Check with negative results. Proof is required. Kennel
Cough is recommended. Flea preventive such as Frontline or Advantage is
required in the summer months. I
recommend starting in May through November.
Heartworm
preventive is recommended, please check with your vet for recommendations
for your area. All dogs to
remain on leash unless otherwise instructed. PLEASE
clean up after your dog. THANK YOU>
You will be required to call at least one hour prior to classes if
the roads are in climate during the winter months.
Classes will only be cancelled if half the class cancels. I must have
time to inform the remaining students. Please
note I do not have a phone at the building but please leave a message if you
are in the second set of classes. Dress
warm and comfortable.
Notices and Newsletters will be sent by E MAIL only. If

with your E mail in the body of the letter or put on your Registration
Form. Copies of up coming events will also be posted on the bulletin board
at the Training Center for those without emails. Students should check
emails if weather in climate for cancellations or CALL.
RULES:
Please Pick up after your own dog.
Leashes must be worn at all times outside in the
exercise area's.
I recommend a crate for your dog to travel in or a
doggie seat belt.
Bring your own water bowl, such that has a lid on with your dogs name
on.
Water is available if you run out of water.
Do not let your dog charge up to another dog in a crated area.
All children five and under must be accompanied by a second adult.
Children are welcome to come and participate. Note, Children must be able to
take instruction from the trainer.
Cell phones should be turned off during class, notify instructor if phone
must be on for emergency purposes.
