My love of animals goes way back to my childhood. I had many cats and dogs as a child growing up. My first breed was a collie. We dabbled in training in obedience and I landed at a fun match and also entered into the breed ring. I thought this was great fun. Eventually my love turned to the Irish Setters. I thought the great red dogs where magnificent. I acquired my first Irish Setter in 1989. We trained in Obedience and earned a CD title in 1991. My first show dog was purchased from a local breeder in 1990. We earned our Championship title in 1992. I bred my first litter in 1994. This litter the "Indian Litter", led me to my first success in my breeding program. "Jennifer" Ohkom Wild Strawberry, whelped my "Berry Litter" of which I have Five Champions. Am Can. Ch. Ohkom Goldenberry, CGC, Ch. Ohkom Windberry, CGC, Am Can Ch. Ohkom Sunberry, Ch. Ohkom Zoomberry JH,CD and Ch. Ohkom Razzberry Ms. Madeline. The Berry Litter was my first pride and joy. "Angel" Ohkom Shimmering Waters CD, CGC ,whelped the "Angel Litter". She has Four Titled Offspring. Ch. Ohkom's Rock n Roll Angel, CD, RA, NAP,CGC. Ohkom's Shimmering Angel CD, AXP,AJP, CGC, Ch. Ohkom's Angel in Disguise CD, CGC, TDIA, and Ch. Ohkom's Angel of Mine. The Angel Litter went above and beyond my expectations. "Little Doc" Ch. Ohkom Born to be Wild sired the Best of Breed Winner at Westminster 2001, Ch. Shadowmere's Penny Candy. Owners Karren and Lloyd Harrsion. One of the Highest honors a breeder can imagine. Second generation:The offspring of Am Can Ch. Ohkom Goldenberry CGC, is Ch. Ohkom's All that Glitter's, RN, CGC. The offspring of Ch. Ohkom Windberry is Ohkom's Lovin' Spoonful, CD,RE, OA, OAJ, CGC, was pointed as puppy. and Ohkom's Love at First Sight CD, and Ohkom's Charmed into Love, CD. New Kids in Town. Jada is my new start. She came to the farm in Sept 2006. She is actually the granddaughter of Captiva's Ride with the Wind , Ryder, who I so wanted to keep in my lines. So now we begin again. This pup has hit the ground running and is ready to go. Jersey, I know it's a Golden. I always had in the back of my mind I would someday own a golden. She come to me, November 2003, on a challenge for my Training Program. Her Offspring, born December 4 2006, Dazzle and Fancy. Let's see what's to come. |
